For Vulnerable Children & Families Impacted by Abuse
Intercessor:
Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me.” Trusting in His compassion for the least and the little ones, let us pray for the Church and for the world.
Lord Jesus, we bring before You all children who are unsafe, unseen, or carrying wounds too heavy for their small hearts: those who go to bed hungry or afraid; those left alone too long with screens or silence; those confused by shouting, coldness, or constant moving; those who are mocked, shamed, or made to doubt their own worth; those who have been abused; and those who have never heard a gentle word spoken over them.
People:
Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
Intercessor:
Have mercy on children whose fear and stress make it difficult to remember, to focus, or to learn. Remember those whose trauma has clouded their minds and burdened their hearts; those who have fallen behind, lost confidence, or quietly given up—not because they lack ability or promise, but because their wounds have not yet been healed and their burdens have not been shared.
People:
Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
Intercessor:
Strengthen parents and caregivers who are weary, struggling, or broken in ways we cannot see. Renew what is weak in them, comfort what is wounded, and bring them the help, wisdom, and hope they need to love and protect their children with steadfast care.
People:
Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
Intercessor:
We give You thanks for grandparents, aunts and uncles, godparents, neighbors, teachers, foster families, and all who step in with steadfast love. Bless those who make room at their tables and in their hearts for children who need safety, nurture, and faithful champions.
People:
Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
Intercessor:
Stir up Your Church to become such people. Make us safe adults, wise mentors, patient friends, and faithful neighbors. Give us eyes to notice, ears to listen, and courage to act. Raise up tutors, teachers, social workers, foster families, advocates, and quiet encouragers who will help wounded children learn, grow, and believe again that they are capable and deeply loved.
People:
Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
Intercessor:
Teach us to offer light in darkness through kindness and faithful presence, that every child we meet may glimpse Your gentleness, Your delight, and Your fierce protection. Gather all wounded children beneath Your wings, O Christ; for You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
People:
Amen.
